Great food. Good service.

Solidly middle of the road Chinese, probably best as take out. I ate in. The restaurant has strange lighting and there are signs of less than stellar hygiene standards. Unsurprisingly the restaurant caters to the local retired population and judging by the host's familiarity with the crowd it is a regular stop for most of the dining patrons. The food itself was very bland but not bad. The staff are very friendly but an average of about $20 per diner I could find better places to spend my money.

One of the best hidden eating experiences in Austin (Westlake). Operating for years, right under our noses. Lunch specials are great deals. However, to really enjoy it you dine for dinner and share your dishes for the ultimate tasting experience.

This review is long overdue... I have been going here for lunch at least once a week since I moved to Austin a year and a half ago. The food is always delicious, the space is cozy, and the staff is the best staff you can ask for in a restaurant dining experience. Tony has always taken great care of us and will go above and beyond to make you happy, but his whole family is kind and friendly and will always put a smile on your face. Lunch menu is also an amazing deal, and they can accommodate your dietary preferences. Highly recommend! I will never stop going to Lotus. :)

We love this place. The family that runs this is just the best. The food is really good, but it is the little something you can't put your finger on...a little magic...that makes us come back over and over. It is comfortable, inexpensive and the service is great. Cannot say enough about this place.

Decent food at a decent price. Nice casual environment. The staff are always super friendly. Every time I've gone for lunch, they are consistently busy but never to the point that you have to wait for a table. A friend and I meet here every month to have lunch and catch up. They're never in a rush to get you out so we stay and visit as long as we want.

Chicken and shrimp? More like chicken and chicken. I've had buffet's better than this place. Plus the kiddie size cups are very annoying.

Best Hot and Sour Soup, ever! Hot and Sour Soup is one of my two "tests" for a good Chinese restaurant, and this is my standard for excellence. Lots of places have soups that aren't hot or sour, or they vary from visit to visit. This place is consistent and terrific. Of course, we can't have just the soup, but the rest of their food is also great. Be warned--lunch can be busy, but it is worth the wait. If I have any critique, it is that you sometimes have to trip a server to get a beverage refill, especially during busy times when they seemed more concerned about cleaning tables than taking care of customers. But I keep going back, and I hope you will too.

Yes, I am giving them a 5 star because I ordered the Chicken and Fish with vegetables at lunchtime and it was "the best ever"!! Seriously! Lots of chicken and shrimp! "Fresh, big pieces of shrimp too! The sauce was not over whelming or too much garlic. I may have visited at a good time, who knows. Last time we went here I loved it also!We have been trying Chinese restaurants, or similar types around Austin and I am always leery about ordering shrimp because it's fishy tasting. Chicken is always chewy, rubbery. At Lotus Hunan the Fish and shrimp were so fresh tasting! It should NOT taste fishy, and THAT is why people hate fish. While eating I told my husband, "I have to tell them how much I loved my lunch! I highly recommend it. Pricing is reasonable, good amount of food! (I finished mine which is unusual. I take it home! Was full all day!)

I've never really been a fan of any type of asian food. Until i was introduced to Lotus Hunan. Though I have only ate at the restaurant once, I do get take out from time to time. Your dollar goes a long way here, by that I mean you get ALOT of grub! They usually have it ready in 10 minutes, the staff is always friendly, the order is always hot, and never wrong.

The staff are so kind and attentive! Food was also great, and good lunch deal as well.

Lotus Hunan did a good job with lunch. It's pretty much standard fare Chinese food, but the service is really good. Despite being swamped with customers, they handled everything very efficiently. The curry chicken was tasty, the fried rice was okay. It's a great place for a quick meal.

Great lunch specials. They are served with choice of soup, egg roll and wonton. I had the wonton soup, which was seasoned with just the right amount of salt to enhance the broth. The Sesame Chicken was sweet and tangy with faint taste of orange in the sauce. The sauce didn't overpower the slightly crispy chicken sever with myfried rice.A good portioned lunch at a moderate price.

My family has been going here for years. Staff is very friendly and are great people. Try the sesame chicken and the hot and sour soup! Best I've ever had. My favorite place to eat in Austin.

Absolutely the best Chinese food around town. I’ve been going for 25 years. It’s family owned and one of the best kept secrets in Westlake.

The meats tasted like a leftovers, over cooked, reheated meats. Never go there again :(

Love the sesame chicken over a steamed rice. Nice location in the shopping area of West Lake Austin.

They don't know how to make fried rice. To make fried rice, the rice should be made the day before, or at least fully cooled before frying. For our dish they obviously used freshly steamed rice. I would also criticize other aspects of our food, but a one-star is justified for a Chinese restaurant not to know how to make fried rice.

Love the food, atmosphere, and most of all the service you get when you're here. If you think you've had Austin's finest Chinese food, you haven't had it like this. My go to for entertaining guest that want a high quality experience across the board. Love it, love it, love it.

Delivered here earlier and the staff is so friendly and nice and helpful. Am definitely going to come back and get something for myself soon because the whole restaurant smelled incredible.

Just about the worst food ever. I ordered lobster Hunan and fried rice. I couldn’t tell what was supposed to be the lobster. The whole dish was so salty I thought I would die. Never again.

This place has been a staple at my house for 20 years. The food is always hot and delicious. I'm partial to the shrimp fried rice myself and my daughter loves the sweet & sour chicken (sauce on the side) but, I've had guests sample just about everything on the menu and we continue to be drawn back time after time. Is it the food? Is it the location? Is it the price point? Is the the warm, funny staff? My fortune cookie says: It's all of the above and then some.

Favorite Chinese food in town! Veggie fried rice and General Tso Chicken are favorites.
